Thanks for that great bit of information, Robert! I never knew it could be that big of a deal... I will definitely consider putting in 2 or more posts per day -- making sure there's at least 1 per day scheduled, of course. Perhaps I should shoot for morning-and-evening posting, so people are likely to see something new each time they log in.

I could not stress this enough.

I check my stats using two different packages. The first is AWStats and I've noticed a direct correlation between the number of posts per day and the number of visitors.

0 posts = < 150 visitors
1 post = 150 - 200 visitors
2 posts = 250+ visitors
3+ posts = < 200 visitors

For me, the optimal number of posts has been 2, so I space them apart one in the AM and one in the PM. Saturdays only 1 as most people are busy on Saturdays and normally those posts are longer. Sunday is Blog Carnival day, so no posts at all.

Hi Todd,

I can understand the stress aspect of it. But for me at least, there's the temptation to just go away and never come back if I break my routine. Especially since it takes 21 days to form a habit, and I haven't quite been blogging consistently for that long.

I tend to think the benefits outweigh the costs, and it's probably better for the audience and search engines alike. Of course, you can always schedule posts in advance, so if you write 3 in a row it is possible to take two days off. I actually haven't written any new posts for several days now -- time to fill my buffer again. :-)

Hi Luke,

I used to try to post once a day. Lately though, I pretty much just make a new post when I feel like it. Sometimes I'll go a week, sometimes I'll do two or three a day. I find it much less stressful ... and, if I want to take a night off after work to just watch TV with my wife I don't have to feel guilty. :)

Thank you for the comment, Etienne! I agree, the regular frequency is the important aspect, even if it is less or more than one daily.

I feel keeping a constant blog post frequency is important.

Good job! :-)

You're keeping a buffer of scheduled posts, right?

Sometimes I feel the need to publish right away, so I wind up doing two in a day. But I'm probably better off putting my excess creative energy in at the end of the buffer... just in case I get sick or something.
