An Entire Week Of No Blogging!

I have decided to give myself a break, as a psychological reward and to prevent burn-out. For the next 7 days I will not be publishing any new posts on this blog. From the 6th through 12th of April, 2008, there will be a blank spot in the calender. Then it’s back to the daily grind!
Here are some of the things I will be doing instead: I will be posting comments, both critiquing my posts and replying to the comments of others. I will be tweaking the site’s theme, editing and creating new static pages, and creatively placing images where appropriate. In short, I want to add some of the polish I feel it lacks. Be prepared for a few changes.
I will also continue to promote this blog by various means such as article directory submissions, guest posting, and social bookmarking. I’d like to investigate proper use of Technorati tags and attempt to make it easier to submit my articles to more such sites. Further, I shall continue to comment on various blogs run by my new found blogging friends — which I know is incidentally where most of my readers have come from.
Thank you all for your incredible encouragement and support. Feel free to drop me an email (luke [at this domain]) and/or drop some comments. Whoever leaves the most comments wins!

I am looking forward to the changes, and posting every day for 31 days, impressive! Hard for me on my schedule, probably yours to, but hung on. And over the next week you won’t be slacking with your blog but updating it, cool. To have a button for people to add you to their technorati faves, go into technorati and there is a code you can copy, and stick that (using theme editor page on wp) in the sidebar maybe, somewhere where it’s noticeable. I’ll be roaming and commenting too!

Thanks for the advice, Nathaniel! It wasn’t always easy to keep up pace for 31 days, but advance scheduling some of my posts made it easier. I need to keep at least some focus on this blog, otherwise I might lose steam. It feels really weird to not be posting, now that I’ve made a habit of it. I’ve heard that if you do something every day for 21 days or more, it becomes a habit. Hopefully 7 days off won’t break it.
I’ll try and post a comment or so every day here in this thread, and see how that works out. Can’t wait to get back to writing full posts again!

I just installed Brian’s Threaded Comments and followed the instructions to get them working with the Folosofo Comment Preview plugin. The preview isn’t shown as threaded, but threaded comments should work regardless.

Hey Luke how’s it going, shane here. What a crazy I dea, taking time off, I tried that once for about 15 mins got bored and started fiddling then it led to posting and that lead to commenting then I was working again and didnt even know it. I don’t know but I envy someone who can just walk away from it for any length of time, good one on you dude.

Thanks Shane.
It is a matter of discipline for me… After a 31-day period of straight blogging, it felt weird not sitting down and writing a post each day. (I could probably have just written and put them in the queue, but somehow it didn’t feel the same.) However, I think I do feel better from the week of rest.
Also, I got married yesterday — glad I had some time out for that!
